IGNORE prefixes in the style of PLACENAME, i.e. De, Van, Von, D', L', etc. Thus ``Luitgard von RAVENSTEIN'' is listed under ``Rav,'' not ``Von.''

Do NOT ignore the prefixes in the style son/daughter of PERSON, i.e. Ap, Ben, Bint, Fil, Fitz, Ibn, Ingen, Mc, O', and Verch. Thus Gruffyd ap RHYS is listed under ``Ap.''

Whether the person has a Surname or not, you can also look him or her up by Forename. Click below on the first letter of the Given Name:
