Recently the claim was made that almost everyone with English ancestry is descended from King Henry Beauclerc. It follows that there are millions of people, *all 16* of whose great-great grandparents are descended from Beauclerc, though I wonder how many can document it.
Of course 15th-century people are much less likely to be so descended than 20th-century people, albeit more likely to be documentable if it's true. I wonder, who is the earliest person with documented descent from King Henry I for each of his or her great-great grandparents?
Checking my records, I find that all 16 of the g-g grandparents of John Neville (ca 1430 - 1461), Lord of Westmoreland, appear to be descended from Beauclerc. John's son Ralph also qualifies, but does anyone know of someone earlier than Lord John with this distinction?
