(was this the famous skipper of the pirate ship Cinque Ports who left Alexander Selcraig (q.v.) on a desert island, inspiring the story of Robinson CRUSOE ?)

Note: Reading usual sources we learn nothing about Edward's son Thomas except that he outlived most of his siblings and died at sea. And we know nothing about the parents of the Thomas Stradling who skippered the privateer Cinque Ports. However, a man would need connections to captain a ship at a very young age, and several of the Baronets were in the Navy. The spare mention of Thomas ('died at sea') is about what we'd expect for a disgraced pirate -- a 'black sheep' of the family. I hereby conjecture that these two Thomas Stradlings were one and the same man.
