The PEDIGREE of
William A. J. (Dr.) ANDERSON

(graduated Emory College, served as physician in Civil War); aka William Andrew Jackson ANDERSON

Note: Our family legend is that he performed the first appendectomy in the State of Georgia.
One Internet mention has turned up: On 21 Sept 1861 he enlisted in 35th Georgia Infantry Regiment, served the sick in a Richmond hospital, received disability discharge 23 March 1862, with Distinguished Service.

External page: Searching for him on the Internet is tricky, because he tended to use just his initials rather than `William.' Here is W.A.J. Anderson's tombstone.

Born:  So. Car. 17 Apr 1827    Died:  3 May 1892
