Would anyone like to buy my Fabulous Pedigree (Version 22.3) as a CD-Rom? I've decided to make it available for $35. (Additional copies with same order for $10 each.) Just send me e-mail at
Version 22 was slightly too big for an ordinary 700 MB disk, so I've made some very minor changes to squeeze the complete site onto the disk. (The same changes were made to the on-line version -- I always keep the two sets of pedigree and index pages identical.) I think I'll use this as an excuse to stop further expansion of the database! (If it does increase further I'll probably switch to a modern CD format that allows more than 700 MB.)
The most common question I get is
The answer is NO! If I were to start this project over from scratch, I think I'd use GedCom format, but I'm not starting from scratch. To convert the data now would be a tedious task (trust me!), and it would obsolete the software I've created. (For example, Given two individuals in my database, I can display their Wright's Inbreeding coefficient. Does your GedCom software do that?)
If you've already purchased the CD for an earlier version, I'll send you the Version 22.3 CD for free! (Sorry: I can afford only one free CD per paying customer! If I've sent you a free Version 22.3 CD, I'd have to charge for a Version 23 CD, if there ever is one.)
If you want the CD-Rom to be based on you, so that your grandparents are shown (with a ``My Grandparents'' notation, etc.) I may be able to do this, but the minimum order would have to be $250. Of course I'd need you to supply the pedigree you want to put in my format; send it as a Gedcom or any machine-readable format (not Gif, Jpeg, or Pdf). If the pedigree you supply intersects with my database, many of the medieval and ancient ancestors in my database would, of course, become your ancestors as well.
