Note: In Pictish culture the throne (though always held by a male) was inherited through the female line; since most of the names of these heiresses are unrecorded I usually show the name, dates and aliases of the Kingly brother, in place of the Heiress herself. Romans called these people Pictus (``painted'' for their tattooed faces), Celts called them Cruthne (after their early King), what they called themselves is unrecorded. There is confusion and doubtless many errors in the Pictish pedigrees.
